Why the results are different for XFEM-based cohesive segement method adopting energy and displacement-controlled damage evolution?

Hello everyone,

I am Eric, struggling with the XFEM-based cohesive segement method in Abaqus/Standard. I simulated a crack propagation in a concrete three-point bending beam, and I selected Maximum principal stress criterion for damage initiation, the tensile strength ft was given for that. Two types of damage evolution, i.e., Type=Energy and Type=Displacement were adopted, respectively. In both configrations, linear softening curve was adopted. For Type=Energy, the fracture energy Gf was input, while for Type=Displacement, the final displacement was calculated as 2*Gf/ft.

I compared the results from two different configrations, and I found the P-CMOD curves were not consistent. I don't konw the reason for this. Could anyone especially experts and developers explain about this? And how to achieve the consistent results?

Thanks in advance!

Regards,

Eric
