Hi Guys,

I have been creating a model to predict residual stress following a cool down period for a piece of metal. The Abaqus user manual specifically states that you should not use a pre-defined field to specify an initial temperature for a fully-coupled thermal-stress analysis - why is this so?

I have used both the pre-defined fields and boundary conditions to specify the initial temperature and I have noticed different cooling rates for certain nodes in the model. I would really like to know what is happening here.
