Visualization Issues in Abaqus 2023 Explicit Analysis - Transparency and Excess Lines

Hi,

I hope all is well.

I'm encountering some visualization issues in Abaqus 2023 during an explicit analysis of a machining operation (milling). The simulation appears to run correctly until completion, but I'm facing problems when viewing the results.

Setup Details:

  • Abaqus Version: Built in Abaqus 2022 (Windows), ran in Abaqus 2023 (Linux)
  • Analysis Type: Explicit
  • Operation Modeled: Machining (Milling)
  • Components: Four inserts interacting with a finely meshed workpiece region
  • Contacts Defined:
    • General contact (explicit) with *All with self option
    • Surface-to-surface contact (explicit) between insert faces and workpiece nodes

At a Step Time of 0.14 (out of a total of 0.2), elements in the simulation begin to appear transparent or show excess lines. This issue didn't occur in a previous simulation with a slightly smaller refined mesh region (run on a different machine). I've tried toggling the visible edges, but this had no effect.

Could this be a graphics card driver problem? Is this an Abaqus problem or an issue with my simulation? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much.
