Hello,
I am trying to learn Abaqus but i am struggling with truss elements. I am studying the deflection of a beam by a wire under tension. On the picture "problem.png" I attached, the vertical part is the beam and the other is the wire. The wire and the beam are both clamped to the ground. To give the wire a pretension, i am using a retractor connector at the bottom of the wire (see "wire_pretension.png"). At the beginning, I was using beam elements to model the cable but the results were not consistent with my reference. Thus, I tried to define the wire with 3 nodes truss elements (T2D3). After some research, I saw that i have to define my wire as a single truss elements, it is why there is only 3 nodes for the wire in my mesh (see "mesh.png"). When I launch my job, I don't have any warnings or errors but my job freezes after the data analyses. Is there a problem in my method ? Or is there a smarter way to solve this problem ?
Also, the next step of my study would be to compute the mode shapes of my deflected structure. If i use only one truss element for the wire, would I be able to describe properly the mode shapes ?
Thanks,
Antoine
