Rigid body dynamics w/impact in ABAQUS Explicit

I would appreciate some advice on setting up an explicit analysis with all rigid bodies that includes impact. I do not have access to Simpack and I plan on switching some or all of the bodies to flexible at some point.

Questions:

Is it not recommended to use explicit for this type of analysis? What are the pitfalls?

How would I include the energy loss due to the coefficient of restitution (COR) for the rigid bodies? Searching the knowledge base I found an article showing how to use damping coefficient in contact damping (*CONTACT DAMPING, DEFINITION=DAMPING COEFFICIENT) (QA00000040673). How do I determine the contact stiffness parameter described in the article?

Are there any example problems, articles, or references in the documentation I could reference?
