I've noticed that .obj files produced by Abaqus sometimes have more vertices in them than the number of nodes in the mesh which is exported. Why is this?
Does anyone know why .obj files produced by Abaqus sometimes have phantom vertices/faces? This question is a follow-up on my question here (https://r1132100503382-eu1-3dswym.3dexperience.3ds.com/community/swym:prd:R1132100503382:community:39?content=swym:prd:R1132100503382:qnaquestion:A5sGRHrlSBi_UX5lQHu7Hg). I have attached the .odb file (which I had to rename to end with .txt because this platform does not allow .odb files to be uploaded) produced by one my jobs and the corresponding .obj file produced by exporting the deformed mesh. As you can see, the .obj file contains vertices and faces which do not appear to exist in the deformed mesh in the .odb file. Note that I'm using Abaqus 2024 and, when exporting the .obj file, I set the deformation scale factor to 1 and left all other view settings as their defaults. Curiously, I also exported the mesh in the .odb file as a .stl file and the phantom vertices/faces don't seem to show up.
