I would like to apply pretension to a bolt in abaqus explicit. I modelled a bolt that has a cut between head and shank so that I can apply a displacement to shank and head and bring them together to apply a preload. I successfully managed that in first part of my analysis. However, when I run my restart analysis where I applied global displacement to another part in the model, I can't tie head and shank so that they can move together. Could someone please explain to me how to accomplish this procedure explicitly ??
