pre.exe slow to run?

Hello All,

I was wondering if there is a way of speeding up the pre.exe stage of an Abaqus standard job without simplifying the model?

I am running an Abaqus/standard general static problem with mesh-to-mesh solution mapping and general contact. The laptop I am using has an Intel Xeon CPU E3-1505M v6 @ 3.00GHz, 3001 Mhz with 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s).

From what I have read online, I believe the analysis input file processor stage (pre.exe) only run on a single core (although I can not find in the Abaqus manual where it states this explicitly)?

If so, I guess you cannot make use of paralysation like you can during the Abaqus/standard analysis stage (standard.exe)?

Could someone please clarify what the input file processor stage deals with in regards to mesh-to-mesh solution mapping and general contact?

Many Thanks!

Andy
