Dear All

I have executed the input file of the example "plate penetration by a projectile" available in ABAQUS Benchmarks Manual v.6.11 (pp_mesh_study.inp). I observe the deformed shape of the plate via visualization modulus of ABAQUS CAE v.6.11.3. However, the deformation seams weird as if the element deletion has not occurred; while the Manual claimed that it has considered element deletion in the file.

I have attached a picture of the deformed shape of the plate.

I am wondering If you can explain what the reason is for this weird deformation?
