I have an issue with the abaqus explicit self contact pair. I am trying to simulate the sliding behavior of a rubber block using the Abaqus Explicit on a rigid surface. I have defined a surface to surface contact between the bottom surface of the block and the rigid surface (with rigid surface as master) and a self contact pair with the bottom surface of the block+the right side surface of the block. But even though I give a hard contact in the surface property definition for both interactions, there is penetration of nodes into the surface on account of buckling (as shown in the figure). Can you please let me know why this is happening and is there any solution.
