Need Help with Removing Rigid Body Constraints in Abaqus Compression Test

Hello everyone,

I'm currently working on a simulation in Abaqus and could use some guidance.

In my project, I want to perform a compression test on a number of grain particles. Here's the process I've followed so far:

  1. I initially dropped the particles into a cylinder using gravity to position them. During this dropping process, I applied rigid body constraints to each particle to prevent deformation and speed up computation. This worked well, and I obtained the desired positions after the drop.

  2. To avoid repeating the dropping process every time, I imported the final configuration of the particles using the predefined field menu, capturing their positions accurately.

  3. Now, I need to perform the compression test, and obviously, I don't want the particles to remain rigid but to deform instead. However, despite removing the rigid body constraints in the model tree, Abaqus still treats the particles as rigid bodies during the compression analysis.

My question is: How can I import the positions of all the parts after dropping them into the cylinder and then remove the rigid body constraints so that the particles behave as deformable bodies during the compression test?

I've tried various methods but haven't been successful in getting Abaqus to stop treating the particles as rigid. Any suggestions or insights would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much!
