Hello everyone, I have been trying to model single point cutting on Abaqus. I have received here many ideas for errors such as: extreme element distortion and ratio of deformation speed to wave speed exceeding 1.0000. These are the common errors that prevent me from getting chip formation. I have tried applying the load slowly by changing to a smooth amplitude curve with longer time. I have also used Distortion control with hourglass ( I read that this is more effective than ALE remeshing). I have changed the size of my elements making them smaller in the exact element location where the distortion occurs. I have double checked my units and material definition. However, despite all this, the simulation still fails either due to element distortion or ratio of deformation speed to wave speed exceeding 1. I am assuming that there is something wrong with my setup somewhere, but i can' find it. I would like ask for a quick review of my model if anyone can. It does not need to be detailed. Just a few things you would check if a simulation failed as mine is.
