How to simulate structures which have both very small and large dimensions?

For my project, I try to simulate a coplanar wave guide, with electrode dimensions of 0.5um x 5um x 2700um. If I understand it right, it is better to use the frequency-domain-solver for small structures and the time-domain-solver for large structures. As I have small structures in my project, I used the frequency-domain-solver. The problem is, that I want to simulate an anisotropic material, which apparently only works with the time-domain-solver. So is there a work around, so that I still could use the frequency-domain-solver to simulate the anisotropic material or is there any way I can configure the time-domain-solver, so that the calculated results are more similar to the ones of the frequency domain solver (because at the moment there is quiet a large difference)?
