how to continue with degraded material properties in UMAT

Hi all,

I'm using a UMAT for Progressive Damage Analysis. I'm done with failure initiation stuff. Now my problem is that once a failure is detected, the elastic constants are degraded by multiplying with some constant. My issue is that, once these elastic properties are degraded for previous increment, these degraded elastic properties must be used for the next increment. Otherwise the material will be healed for the next increment. So can you suggest how to continue with these degraded properties?

Also while using my current UMAT, the elastic properties of "UNFAILED" (for which failure index<1) keep on increasing?

please help me out with this??

Should I use any other method for this analysis??
