As far as i know, Abaqus offers at least two possibilities to model pre tension in T3D2:
*pre tension. The pre tensile load is applied with CLOAD on the first step of the analysis with appropriate boundary conditions.
*initial condition, type=stress. The first step of the analysis contains only boundary so that the equilibrium state is reached.
Both approach are supposed to be mechanically the same.
If I look at results with initial condition, I notice that the stress slightly changes from what is declared. The variation is about 0.5%. I assume that this comes from the equilibrium research. But as everything in my model is linear, the newton scheme should lead to the solution without ;odifying the stress value. Am I correct?
I tried to modify the residual ratio from the default value of 0.5% to 0.01% without impact on the stress at the end of equilibrium step. I still lost 0.5% on my stress on so on the tensile load.
