I have modelled a Pretensioned I beam in ABAQUS and have compared with the experimental results. Even though on comparing experimental and Finite Element curve I can tell what is the failure load but how can I verify the results using stresses and strain from the finite element model.
I was thinking to use EE33 in ABAQUS which is the elastic strain, when it reaches 0.0035 as the failure load. However the load capacity based on this criteria is very less compared to the experimental result.
Note that Von Miss failure criteria or principle stress criteria cannot be used to defined the failure load as Beam is a composite(tendons plus steel plus concrete) and it cannot be defined as an ideal ductile or ideal brittle nature.
Any suggestions is appreciated.
