I want to track stresses of the material as it passes through a fixed position in a dynamic simulation. My idea of doing this would be through the creation of a relatively large number of element sets, which write a single value to history output as specified by their 'time point' (thus an equal amount of time point keywords and history output requests). In post-processing, we can manage this data to make a single time-stress plot for the given position.

BUT I see it is not possible to define the history output by time points in Abaqus Explicit. Is there any reason why? It is valid for Standard.
I could make it work for the field output too, but that will create a very messy .odb in which I then have to look for the Whole Model plots between all the plots for small element sets.

Would there be another workaround?
