Hello everyone,
I would like to ask about the feasibility of performing glass forming-related CFD studies in the 3DEXPERIENCE Fluid Mechanical Engineer (FMK) role.
The main topics of interest are:
- Glass forming using the FEM method
- Glass forming using the Volume of Fluid (VOF) method
- Numerical modeling of non-Newtonian flow behavior
- Conjugate Heat Transfer (CHT) between the molten glass and the mold
There is already a sample parametric study available on the platform for a plastic bottle. However, in our case, the critical point is that the material is glass, not plastic.
Therefore, I would like to understand whether molten glass behavior during bottle forming can be properly represented in 3DEXPERIENCE FMK, especially considering its high viscosity, temperature-dependent material properties, non-Newtonian behavior, and free-surface deformation.
Has anyone worked on a similar glass forming application in 3DEXPERIENCE FMK?
Any guidance, recommended approach, limitations, or example workflows would be appreciated.
