Could anyone please explain how adding imperfection using an eigenvalue buckling analysis works in Abaqus? That is, how the given mode and the scale factor is converted as imperfection and is that given imperfection is visible in the initial output frame?
I analyzed a 4 m beam with imperfection added through eigenvalue buckling analysis. After the first load increment, I checked the displacement contours. These displacement values were far less than the imperfection values. Does it mean the mode shape and the imperfection magnitude were not taken as the initial shape of the model????
