Hello!
I know there are workflows in which PyCharm is used to develop Abaqus scripts with the possibility to recognise Abaqus Python objects, but has anyone successfully linked any external IDE with Abaqus Python kernel inside Abaqus/CAE?

As far as I see, the Abaqus PDE can call Python kernel inside Abaqus/CAE (there is even the SMAPython process). I wondered if there could be a way to exchange data from external app.
Abaqus PDE doesn't seem to be developed anymore so it would be interesting to find an alternative that would allow for interactive troubleshooting of scripts. Right now we've got access to Python 3 so the number of possible workflows is even greater.
