Hi everyone,
I am a bit frustrated.
I am doing MI calculations with Abaqus 2025 on a stationary turbine blade. I have done a few of these with the exact same procedure the last weeks and always without problems.
As input the static temperature and pressure distributions along the blade airfoil are provided by our aero group based on CFD analysis. The data is provided as an Excel table with XYZ coordinates and field values for pressure and temperature. The CFD mesh is not identical to my Abaqus Mi mesh but it has a similar density.
I have imported this data to CAE via Analytical field - Mapped field. Copy paste, no problem. And then I have applied this data (divided into pressure and suction side on the airfoil to avoid mixups in some areas where the airfoil is very thin) as sink temperature of the surface film condition.
I have done the exact same thing 3 weeks ago on a similar blade calculation. Exact same BCs, same sets&surfaces, a just slightly larger blade. Worked very well. I had to increase the tolerances a little as some nodes just had 0°C but in the end it worked.
This time I get an error message when generating the input file saying "Failed in mapping the field. Due to the failure of evaluating the sink temperature of surface filmcondition, this interaction will be missing in the input file."
I have double checked the position of the mapped XYZ data points by adding some of them (from top, mid and bottom of the data list) to the CAE assembly as datum points. All the points are exactly where they should be. The distance from point to the actual geometry surface is around 0.01 mm.
I am out of ideas. Maybe someone can help me. Especially the fact that my former model which is rather identical, just a bit larger worked so well:
Thank you and kind regards
Markus
