In order to define an element based surface by means of keywords, the following option can be used:
| *SURFACE, NAME=surface_name, TYPE=ELEMENT element number or set, face identifier |
which is directly copied from the user's abaqus guide. The most vague bit out of it is a face identifier label, which can be one of these S1, S2, S3, S4, S5 which in turn would depend upon the element type (as provided in the table under section 2.3.2 Element based surface definition), but let's say I have got an axisymmetric element (CGAX4) the question I have faced is how to figure out to which side this face label (S1, S2 etc) is related to. It seems as user guide does not provide any sketch to describe this properly? Is there any strict rule or convention for that? Can you explain me this bit please? Thank you a lot in advance!
