Hello everyone. Recently, I have been working on fluid-structure interaction for floating wind turbines. I have now completed the fluid simulation in STAR-CCM+ and the wind turbine simulation in Abaqus. However, at the moment I am experiencing some issues. To take into account the rotation of the wind turbine blades, my model is set up like this. My floating wind turbine is based on a cuboid in which there is another cylinder in which my turbine rotor turns. The background mesh and the box form an overlapping area, while the rear cylinder passes data through an interface with the empty cylinder area reserved in the box.
But when I coupled Abaqus, I was confused about the settings for the deformation. Since there is an overlapping polygon between the box and the background mesh, does this polygon need to be set to morphing or the rest of the settings in the calculation? For wind turbine blades also due to the presence of external faces, although it is in the interface area in the calculation, I am equally confused whether this face needs to be set to morphing or ignored. If you have relevant experience, thank you for sharing.
The rotor area containing the blades is shown in Figure 1, and the outer cylindrical surface is set to interface. The rectangular area containing the foundation is shown in Figure 2, with its internal cylindrical surface corresponding to the rotor domain, which is also set to interface. The surface of the outer box is the surface of the overlapping area.
