I have an Abaqus question.
I have an engine CAD model which is completely full inside. I mean the shape is accurate from the outside but there is no inside details. Because of that, I want to define the center of gravity, mass and rotational inertias of the model manually. And I also want to apply acceleration forces to the model and I need the engine model to transfer those forces to the frame of the vehicle.
To do that, I got the engine part and connected it to the frame with “tie constraint”. Then I assigned a reference point to the part (engine) and then I assigned “Point mass/inertia” to that reference point. After that, I also defined the engine as a rigid body. But when I try to apply “gravitational” force to that reference point, Abaqus gives an error telling me that gravitational forces cannot be applied to reference points. And when I apply the “gravitational” force to the whole engine part, it asks me to define elastic material property and density of the part. But I cannot do that because normally the engine is composed of different parts with different material properties and densities and I don’t have those details in my CAD model.
Could you please help me with that issue? How can I apply acceleration loads to a point mass in Abaqus?
Thank you very much for the help in advance,
