Hi,
I want to simulate the thermal behavior of my antenna board. Initially I'd separate this into two separated simulations (EM and Thermal) and further use into a co-design. I'd rather start like so because I can understand how each simulator works independently first. I am fairly used to the EM simulator, so I want to move towards the thermal simulator. Initially my idea is to have a small board with a chip as a heat source.
Going through the Thermal and Mechanical Simulation guide, there is only fairly complex models. I would like to know how to set up a 10x10 mm² board with a 5x5 mm² chip in the middle and simply see the rise in temperature. For this case my chip has a thermal resistance and a dissipated power presented at the datasheet. I suppose, then, a resistor model would be enough initially. Further, I'd like to know how to create an array (i.e a 4x4 array of the 10x10mm² simple models) and simulate. And finally, I'd like to know if there is a recommended way to do thermal simulations (i.e a more precise way) that requires further information about the chip (that I might be able to get from a manufacturer for example).
Thank you in advance,
Guilherme
