I have a doubt with the CST Studio Suite software, with the High Frequency Module. I'm simulating an open cavity structure like the attachment. The boundaries are all "open (add space)" and the background is "Material" (vacuum). As can be seen, the structure is very open and the radiation decrease the cavity Quality Factor Q0 enormously. This can be observed easily with the Scattering Parameters, extracting the Loaded Quality Factor QL from S21 and the Beta coupling from S11 and S22. We are trying to extract also the quality factor Q0 from the PostProcessing using the H-field monitor at the resonant frequency. However, for some reason, the provided Q by CST with the PosProcessing is very different (Q = 5500) from the one extracted with S-p (Q0 = 250). Why? Which kind of Q provides the PostProcessing? Q0, QL, Qext?
