CST - Bug Report: CST Studio Suite has compatibility issue with MATLAB R2024a

CST Studio Suite

Hi! I am writing to report a compatibility issue between MATLAB R2024a and CST Studio Suite 2023/2024 using actxserver function. After extensive testing, I have identified a specific problem that I believe requires your attention. If anyone meets the same issue, you can roll back your MATLAB version.

Recently, I attempted to use MATLAB R2024a to run a test code designed to invoke and control CST Studio Suite 2024. This resulted in an error message "Invalid character code sequence detected." consistently occurring. You can check my previous post.

To further investigate, I performed the following trials:

  1. I rolled back to MATLAB R2023b and used it to control CST Studio Suite 2023. This configuration worked without any errors, and the simulation in CST proceeded normally.
  2. I use MATLAB R2024a to open the same code to control CST Studio Suite 2023. This time that error happens again.
  3. Finally, I use MATLAB R2023b to control CST Studio Suite 2024. The same code worked without any errors, and the simulation in CST proceeded normally.

Based on these trials, it is clear that MATLAB R2024a has a compatibility issue with both CST Studio Suite 2023 and CST Studio Suite 2024.

Currently, I can continue my work by rolling back to an earlier MATLAB version. However, as many users are upgrading to MATLAB R2024a, it is important to address this compatibility issue. I kindly request that SIMULIA team can contact MathWorks, Inc. to collaborate on resolving this issue. I will also be sending a bug report to MathWorks.
