Crushable foam model for Abaqus/standard analysis is so unstable that the analysis does not finish, so I want to ask for countermeasure.

I am trying to use crushable foam model for sandwich panel bending analysis in Abaqus/standard.
However, because yield surface of crushable foam model expands only under compressive stress, the stress does not gain after yield under tensile or pure shear, which makes analysis unstable.

In papers, almost all people use Explicit analysis, so this problems does not matters.

Is there a good idea for this problem except for using Explicit analysis?
