Crack Detection using Acoustic Waves

Hello everyone

I am working on a simulation to detect damage/crack hidden inside a solid steel cylinder using acoustic waves. In the actual scenario, the acoustic waves are generated as a result of thermal expansion/contraction of steel due to a nanosecond pulsed laser exposure at the excitation area of the cylinder. I have found some examples using Lamb Waves propagation for this purpose but I am not sure if they will be a good choice for cylindrical objects. Also, if there is some standard lookup data for acoustic waves vs incident energy generated in steel.
