I am trying to simulate a drill bit being attached with a bit breaker (Spanner really). The bit breaker is a 45 mm thick composite part, so I opted for continuum shell elements. Will the continuum shell element act correct when loaded on their side, rather than perpendicular to their plane as you would load shells. If not, what other modelling technique can I use?
