Hi, I'm running into a problem while trying to model contacts in my analysis of the critical speeds and frequency response.
The assembly consists of three coaxial shafts (radial clearance of 2mm b/w each) with bearings placed at 6 different locations. The shafts are not in contact with each other initially, but I want them to simulate contact once they get in touch.
The steps consist the static step with ROTDYNF followed by complex frequency extraction step.
I have tried defining contact pairs, creating a friction property giving penalty behavior and hard contact too. I have even tried using general contact condition and the shafts still cross each other and I don't know why. Can someone help me with this? I want to know if this is even possible in ABAQUS, if so, how? And also, if not, how much effect will it have on my solution?
