I am trying to couple/tie 2 nodes, where the DOFs of both nodes are kinematically coupled. I have a constraint that the DOFs of both nodes should not be eliminated. The nodes are further involved in MPCs. The easiest way to achieve this is using a Connector element with JOIN section property. But, connector elements are not supported by iterative solver in older Abaqus versions ( I have tried using BEAM and TRUSS elements with very high Youngsmodulus but this lead to convergence issues in some cases and turned out to be numerically expensive where ever it worked. Using a Rigid Constraint for the element would eliminate the DOFs of the slave nodes, so this would not work in this case.
