Concrete Damaged Plasticity Built-in Model in ABAQUS has many shortcomings. I found that Concrete Damaged Plasticity Built-in Model in ABAQUS has many shortcomings reagrding :
1- CDP cant capture shear strength degradation of concrete during cyclic loading and during monotonic loading as well.
2- CDP does not depend on its results regarding seismic analysis check of concrete structures and cyclic behavior of reinforced concrete elements like columns and walls. Because, CDP cant capture pinching effect as well. Many engineers working in design companies need this feature to get accurately results of seismic analysis checks.
3-CDP cant model bond-slippage between bars and concrete which is very needed for modeling RC structures under many load cases.
I am afraid to answer that the above shortages can be solved by making subroutine files, but it is very hard task for engineers that work in industry, they do not have enough time and effort to do that. So, inserting the above features in the next version of ABAQUS will increase its sales, especially many other competitive software like ls-dyna have all these features plus many powerful built-in models of concrete that cover all load cases.
