HI,

I am trying to make a simulation of a composite beam with foam core material inside (all sides are covered by composites).
I think the best idea is to model the foam at a solid and then ad shell elements of composite on the outside of this foam. The problem is that I dont know how to make shell elemements on top of solid elements. Is it even possible?

Is there any better way to do this? 
I am going to simulate a three point bend test until failure. I am using Isight to itterate the fiber orientation so the simulation needs to be computational effective.
