I am doing an impact analysis in Abaqus/Explicit (as shown in image 1) using Johnson-holmquist material model for brittle materials. I am expecting to get the simulation as like image 2 where the particle rebounded after the impact. But instead, I am getting something like image 3 where the particle is penetrating the substrate. Any ideas why this is happening? I have checked all the material parameters, these should be fine.
