Abaqus - Why do I have such big differences between Abaqus and RFEM for a buckling analyses under the influence of temperature?

Hello dear Simulia community,

I am in the process of comparing the buckling analysis under temperature effects between the programs Abaqus and RFEM. The buckling analysis without the effect of temperature fits together quite well so far. With the effect of temperature I get a 40% larger construction load in Abaqus.

Has anyone of you been able to gain experience there and can you tell me if this is a normal difference? This seems very high to me.

Information about the model:

  • clamped hollow section support (S355)
  • uper side in Abaqus a Rigid body // RFEM rigid plate
  • shell elements
  • Abaqus:Temperature used up as a predefined field, since the component temperature is constant

RFEM: Temperature is applied as a load. Reductions in the material parameters are included in the material parameters

Thank you a lot :)
