Dear ABAQUS support team,
Hello!
Following the procedures given in a SIMULIA Community Conference paper (2014-Weidong Wu-Applying Periodic Boundary Conditions in Finite Element Analysis), we were trying to use "*Equation" command to simulate the wave propagation in a large composite block, by modelling a finite Representative Volume Element (RVE). As shown in the figure, 3D brick elements (C3D8R) of finite thickness was modelled, with PBC applied to the front and back surface node set, in order to mimic a plain-strain case (along z axis, thickness direction). This approach works well with a total amount of element less than 0.7 million, whereas it fails with internal error as the element amount goes above 0.7million!
It seems that there is a limit of amount of DOFs when using the “*Equation” command, and we're wondering whether it is possible to improve the limit (environment file?). We've enclosed a detailed description file along with the original models (converted to txt) in this question. Could you please kindly advise us on that?
Best regards!
