                                        Am a begginer for Abaqus, i m doing a anlysis of a deformable plate hitting a rigid pole at some angle, i am able to perform the analysis but I have few doubts. First i did analysis with time period of 0.1sec and 0.2sec, load is applied through Predifined Fields option for Plate as Velocity, in both cases plate is hitting the pole but after hitting pole they are rebouncing back, i want to see the plasticity in plate. As for material properties i have given E, poissons ratio, Density and Plasticty data. I want to see more deformation in plate as i increase time period and should not rebound. Also how to check whether analysis is conducted correct or not using output parameters?

Secondly whether possible hand calculations to correlate plate at angle hitting pole like energy absorbed or released?
