Abaqus - How to make two bodies in sliding contacts stick only for a selected step of the simulation?

I have two rectangles in contact, but the material properties of one of them is temperature-dependent such that we can modulate the friction coefficient at will. For the purpose of our study, it is sufficient to treat the contact as perfectly sticking for a certain step, and then allow slippage for the subsequent steps. How can I achieve this sticking?

One way I can thin of is giving a very high value of coefficient of friction, but I am not sure what is a good approximate and if there will be any numerical artifacts if it is too high (e.g, 30)?

I am also open to other suggestions.
