Abaqus - Advice for Creating Cavity Radiation Interaction for Shell Element Surfaces

Dear All,

In Abaqus CAE, shell surfaces defined outside of a cavity radiation interaction definition provide the option to choose a brown side, a purple side, or both sides for the shell or internal faces (cf. screenshot). However, one must use caution. If both sides are chosen for a surface and that same surface is used within a cavity radiation definition, the job will abort and the .dat file will yield the following error: "***ERROR: The face index is out of range." To avoid this issue, choose either the brown side or the purple side within the surface definition. Note that shell surfaces defined within a cavity radiation interaction definition only provide a brown and purple option.
