Abaqus - Additive Manufacturing, Material removal

Hi, I am using material removal technique provided under additive manufacturing special purpose techniques in SIMULIA varication (link below).

Question: I could not understand how the cross-section of removed material is changing with different parameters. For-example bead height and width 1 & 2, and with "middle" which mean material removal is through this section, but then how come there are three 1x1 squares being removed.
Secondly, it appears that bead orientation does not make any difference in the final shape. it is correct? or perhaps bead orientation of X,Y= 1,1 and 2,2 mean same thing? i.e. 45 deg
Thirdly: how come material is removed from the middle of the cube (for 2d only square can be seen).

Description of the parameters (ABQ_am_special_purpose_types.inp) is as follows:

**----------------------------------------------------------------------
** ABQ_AM_MaterialRemoval_Bead should be
** defined if Deposition Process is Bead
**----------------------------------------------------------------------
*PARAMETER TABLE TYPE, NAME="ABQ_AM_MaterialRemoval_Bead", PARAMETERS = 5
STRING, ,"Stack Direction",, "X|Y|Z"
FLOAT, ,"Bead Height",L,"Height of the bead deposition cross-section"
FLOAT, ,"Bead Width",L,"Width of the bead deposition cross-section"
FLOAT, ,"Activation Offset",L," "
STRING, ,"Deposition Position",,"Below|Above|Middle"

** ABQ_AM_MaterialRemoval_Bead_Orientation can be
** to overwrite the preset staking direction defiend in ABQ_AM_MaterialRemoval_Bead
**----------------------------------------------------------------------
*PARAMETER TABLE TYPE, NAME="ABQ_AM_MaterialRemoval_Bead_Orientation", PARAMETERS = 3
FLOAT,0,"Removal bead orientation x",L,""
FLOAT,0,"Removal bead orientation y",L,""
FLOAT,1,"Removal bead orientation z",L,""
