We are looking into the Project Planning and Plan Explorer apps and we have a couple of things to point out on the latter.

The Plan Explorer app is useful to have a look at the Project Gantt of a Project Planning without the need of a XPP license. However, we found out some inconveniences.

First: why is the Plan Explorer app missing from the 3DCompass? The only way to have this app opened in the system, as far as we know, is to have a notification regarding a Project Planning event (like Project Planning task assignment). Clicking on such notifications will trigger the Plan Explorer to open. You can see how this is quite cumbersome if you need to create a new Dashboard using this app. In the case of the Project Management apps, the CSV role provides the Project Execution in the 3DCompass.

Second: while using the Plan Explorer app, the user cannot perform any modification on the tasks assigned to them, whereas it is possible to do them in the Collaborative Tasks widget. This could be a source of confusion for the end users. In the case of the Project Management apps, the Project Execution apps allows the users to navigate the Project Space and perform modifications on the assigned items.

Are these inconveniences found by other? Is there any plan from DS to improve the Plan Explorer app to address them?
