What does everyone recommend for mixing date effectivity with Model Version and Manufacturing Plan effectivity?

I want to introduce Date Effectivity in addition to our Manufacturing Plan effectivity in our MBOM/BOP (DELMIA) for added visibility as to when our Manufacturing Facility is going to implement changes. I am nervous about implementing it, are there any lessons learned out there for how to best approach this? 

Has anyone ever used Date Effectivity in addition to Manufacturing Plan/Model Version effectivity successfully?
