Common practice to improve external STEP file management

Hello ENOVIA User Community,

I am looking for some ideas to improve our workflow, especially for STEP files import and traceability. Let's consider this scenario:

  • A small consultancy team provides simulation support to multiple customers at the same time using 3DX on-cloud.
  • Customers usually send a request to simulation team via email and share a description of their physical product, relevant STEP files and a list of requirements for simulations
  • A simulation team member analyzes data, imports step files, simplifies geometries, interacts with customers for missing data, sends preliminary results via chat or email, etc and finally releases a document to summarize the activity.

We are aware this is business-as-usual, with many inefficiencies everywhere and loss of knowledge, either. However, let's focus first on our current biggest pain point: STEP files management... Hereafter some basic questions:

  • Are there any better methods to share STEP files other than emails?
  • When a geometry is partially updated by a customer, how to leverage 3DX apps to compare old component/assembly revisions with new ones?
  • After a first simulation batch is released to customer, in case we are asked for a follow-up support, is it possible to use Change Actions for creating new revisions and replacing them in a revised/branched simulation?

Tks in advance for sharing your ideas/experience!
