Running DraftSight on a Dell Precision M90 with XP/64

I started out using version 8.0.1387, which ran OK.  The biggest problem was the printing was quirky.  I would send a print to our printer for an 11 X 17 copy, and then printer wouldn't start printing.  For each print, I had to go to the printer and tell it what paper size to use, and after a series of button pushing, would finally get one sheet.  Then the same routine for each additional file.  In the end, I got a 11X17 print out, but it was a hastle to get it.

I need to do a little editing with a 2D package, and Draftsight seemed to out perform 2D Editor.  Not much feed back here.

After I got back from the New Year break, DraftSight reported it had expired.  The message also said it may not have been activated, but I know it was.  It was a little odd having the program stop running after a few months, but it is BETA.

Was able to access your web site, but whe I clicked on the download button(s), our SonicWALL filter blocked your site.  It's not the EXE download - but something else.  Not sure what casused this, and no one internally seems to be able to help.  So I downloaded the file to my cell phone, then put the micro SD card in my laptop and coped the file locally and to the network (for my co-workers).  This is a hastle, so if DS can fix anything on their end, I would greatly appreciate it.

I uninstalled the previous version.  Now my system has version 10.11.601 installed.  The print command is all I have tested.  I opened the example file "pump housing" and tried to print to 11X17.  No more button pushing on the printer!  Yea!  But wait ... no matter what I do, the print comes out on 8.5X11and is cut off (not a full view).  I've tried forcing the paper size, paper tray, etc.  The generic preview (green rectangle) is OK, and the print preview is OK.  They appear to show an 11X17 preview.  But the hard copy is always on 8.5X11 and cut off (either cut in half, or one combonation of options printed only the upper left hand corner at the top of the sheet).

Looks like the printing has more options now, can save printer settings (not sure if former version did this).  Bottom line is the print function is still lacking.  Printing is a basic functionallity of software, so it seems like this should not be a big deal.  Obviously, there are issues with printing and people are noting it in the forum.  Wanted to give a detailed feedback to help out as best I can.

Seems to be user friendly for a former AutoCAD user.  Command line works the same and the icons are there.  I've never used the ACAD property manager, but I'm sure DraftSight matches what ACAD is doing.  That part is cumbersome for me, but I'm just not used to it.

Still reminding myself this is BETA, and it's free.  But I need to print.
