Hardware :  Laptop CPU Intel T7700,  GPU Nvidia GEForce 8600M GS, 4GB RAM

Software :  os Ubuntu 14.04 x64-bit  /  Nvidia proprietary driver 331.113 (latest Ubuntu verified for 8M series gpu)   /  DraftSight 2015

I have recently switched the same Laptop from Windows 7 x32-bit to Ubuntu 14.04 x64-bit.  For most all applications this meant a significant speed increase.  Blender, a 3D modeller (and much more) rendered 35% faster!  In general the environment and Operating System were lighter and quicker.

Not Draftsight... Quite the opposite,  open DS with empty drawing and the mouse seems slightly to lag.  Open a small, light drawing and the lag is obvious, causing work problems.  Open a large drawing and DS mouse lag is so prominent that it is impossible to do any work.  And because everyones' definition of "large" is different, let me clarify:  my machine is dual boot, when I boot Win7 x32-bit and DS there, the same drawing has no problem at all !  The lag is in the graphic area of DS only.

 So far I have tried several different mouse settings: changing mouse resolution, speed and acceleration, makes no difference.

Forum suggestions to erase DS configuration files and restart:  DS composed new config files but the problem was the same.

I cannot change drivers for Nvidia:  proprietary driver 331.113 (latest Ubuntu verified for 8M series gpu)   is the latest proprietary tested by Ubuntu.  I changed to the latest, for my 8-series gpu, directly from Nvidia downloads :  v.340.75.  However that produced a flicker in mouse-over at the borders of the display or when scrolling, in all apps, so I rolled back to 331.113

I emphasize again that no other app has a performance problem, mouse or otherwise.  On contrary faster than Win7

I am thinking of trying DS v1R5 for Ubuntu 64 or 32 bit .  I cannot find the installation files for these anywhere.

Anywhere I can get these oficially or from other user that has saved the download?

Any other ideas?
