Hi, the CAD guys at our custom stainless fabrication shop are migrating over to DraftSight, and we're considering purchasing the Professional version for our company computers. One of the productivity issues I'm having with DraftSight is in the Trim/Power Trim commands. I've watched the videos and pretty well figured out the ins and outs of these commands, but I have a question/request for either clarification or a future update.
One thing that I'd really like to be able to do with Trim is to trim (or extend) a line by a certain number of units. That is to say, I'd like to trim or extend a line by .25" without having a reference line to trim or extend to. Drawing that reference line is an unnecessary step that just slows me down and complicates the process. In the older CAD software that we've been using (an early version of Amada's AP100 2D CAD), we had the option to select an entity and either trim/extend to another entity (like with Draftsight) or type a positive or negative value to extend or trim the line by that value.
Is there any way to currently accomplish what I want?
Is there any way I can contact the DraftSight development team to make this suggestion?
Thanks!
Todd
