Cannot edit saved files but can add new lines etc and edit them.

I'm running newly updated DraftSight 2017 SP1 on Win8.1 Pro, 32-bit.

Everything worked fine before the update and Hotfix.

Now when I open old files, I can add new lines, etc but the old drawing cannot be edited.Select(ing), etc doesn't work.

I've tried all likely Layers Manager options, to no avail.

Re-saving files under a new name doesn't solve the problem.

Nor did re-installing DraftSight 2017 SP1 from a new download.

Help! please..

ps. it appears to be something to do with DraftSight saves - new lines added can be edited before saving, but not after saving and re-loading. ie they also appear to become "readonly"

.dwg files loaded into Wordpad (as text) are editable, so the file is not really "readonly".

pps. Warren Black kindly responded to my original May question, but we haven't found a solution. I have a tedious "work-around" described in my original (27 May) thread and don't understand how/why it usually works - but there must be a proper solution! - Any help would be appreciated
