Regardless of what color is selected the background shows up as white (and the cross hair changes to a black square).

I have used options>system options>element colors> and I have selected black for both the sheet and model backgrounds but it still shows up as white. It does not matter what color lines are displayed in the drawing, the white "background" over rides everything. If you get the cross hair close to an object you can see it highlighted in orange and all of the command functionality seems to work correctly.

You just cant see anything.

As a note my software was crashing on startup every time until I did the command prompt trick I read on here. I've tried restarting etc but it has not resolved the problem.
