Setting boundaries in model and paper space

I just finished watching the tutorial on Template Setup and Creation by Mark Lyons. My question concerns setting the boundaries for each type of drawing. If I understand correctly, for paper space (drawing in architectural style) I would set the boundary at say 24" (Y) x 36" (X), create my title block and line boundaries and then save as a template. Now, to make sure I don't exceed the drawing boundary of printable paper size template at 24" x 36" I would resize my model space boundary to 1/4" scale by making my X and Y positions at: 0,0 and 1728,1152. I understand from other videos that 1/4" is 1:48 therefore 24" x 48 = 1152 and 36" x 48 = 1728. Is this correct?
